| March is Numeracy Month! 2026-03-02 | March is Numeracy Month at GVS. On Tuesday March 3rd it is Wear a Number Day. So Tuesday, wear something with a number on it. The number has to be visible (not the size tag inside your shirt). Teachers please work out the participation percent of your students on Tuesday as well as the number average of your homeroom class and send it to Mrs. Maria Friesen. See the Numeracy Month Activities sheet for more information. Everyone can take part in celebrating Number Day on Tuesday by trying a number game, like Albert's Insomnia or a number puzzle, like Sudoku or a KenKen puzzle. |
| Pi Day Contest - March 12 2026-03-02 | Pi Day celebrations are coming March 12th. You can take part in a reciting of the digits of Pi contest at lunch on March 12th. If you want to memorize digits of Pi and enter the contest, contact Mrs. Maria Friesen by March 10th to enter. Everyone can get involved by wearing their GVS Pi-rate wear on March 12th. Or if you don't have GVS Pi-rate gear, you can wear something with circles on it. |

| I ♥ to Read Month Recap 2026-03-02 | A HUGE shout out to our librarian Mrs. Tracey Friesen, our EAs and student helpers for all the work they put in to "I LOVE TO READ MONTH." Events like "STOP, DROP, AND READ," and "Blind Date with a Book," were some popular activities and promotions the captured the attention of students and teachers alike. The winners of our Guess Who's a Reader will be announced later this week. |
| High School Sports 2026-03-02 | High School Baseball / Softball: Sign-ups for High School Baseball and Softball teams have been posted on the bulletin board outside the gym. Please sign-up by Friday March 13th if you are planning on playing this season. High School Games Congratulations to our Varsity Boys and winning the Zone 13 Banner last Thursday night! This is the first zone banner for our Varsity Boys Basketball team since 2010. The boys now move onto Provincial Qualifiers this weekend in Carberry. Intramurals The gym will be open for volleyball and basketball at 12:30 today. |
