| Winner of the Candy Jar 2026-03-27 | Today is the last day of Numeracy Month. Math Olympic results are as follows: the Gold medal goes to Team 2, the Silver medal goes to Team 8 and the Bronze medal goes to Team 12. Could the "mathletes" of those teams please see Mrs. Maria Friesen in Room 201 during 1st recess to get their prizes. And the big prize that you have all been waiting for... the Candy Jar of Numeracy Month... there were many good guesses. Avery, Milo and Hadrian in 7MF were close with 1550, but Taliah in 7LH was even closer with 1548. Kaitlyn Martens in 8NL was even closer with her guess of 1537, but the closest guess and only ONE away from the actual number of candies in the jar was a student in 7LS who guessed 1541 (actual number of candies was 1542), and that student is Lauren Friesen. Well done! Lauren can pick up the candies from Mrs. Maria Friesen at the end of the day. And for the last day of Numeracy Month, a little more Math humour…(Recently overheard in Mr. Dueck’s Math classroom) I don't understand why some people use fractions instead of decimals. It's pointless. Though, I guess you gotta draw the line somewhere, or else people will think you're being irrational. But that is beside the point. And remember… Old mathematicians never die, they just lose some of their functions. |
