Good Morning Parents/Guardians and GVS Students;

I would like to take this opportunity to remind our GVS school community to continue to check your emails on a daily basis.   Moving forward, Hanover School Division will continue to provide parents and students with all of the latest updates regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it has on our educational system.

Please take note of the following things that are specific to GVS and our students:

  1. Our students in grades 5-8 may come to GVS until Friday to pick up their work packages, (binders, books, water bottles, and gym clothes) if parents are coming to collect these items for their children, we remind parents to check in at the office. Please do not go directly to your child’s class.   Teachers are still working with some students this week.
  2. All grade 5-8 report cards are on track to be sent out to parents this Friday, March 20th. Paper copies of report cards may be picked up at the office until Friday 4:00 pm.
  3. All students in grades 9-12 need to connect with their individual subject teachers to make sure that they are aware of how their assignments/projects will be submitted to teachers via Google Classroom, or other sites that teachers have selected. ALL grade 9-12 students should take their HSD issued Chromebooks home, so that they can complete assignments for their various subjects.
  4. If you have any other questions regarding student work packages, or other resources that your child may need, please do not hesitate to connect with your child’s teacher. Again, please note that our teachers are still working with some students this week.   It is preferred that parents come between 4:00-4:30 pm to pick up the work packages and resources that their child requires. As per HSD directive, all schools will be closed at 4:30 everyday.  If parents are coming earlier, we kindly remind them NOT to park in the bus loop (front of the school, staff/visitor parking lot) because we still have busses running till Friday.

On behalf of the staff at GVS, I want to thank all of our parents/guardians for their patience and cooperation this last week.   We are all working hard to navigate through some very difficult and life changing events.   We wish our entire GVS community all the best, as we begin the process of self-isolating.   Continue to call, connect, or reach out to your family, friends and neighbors.  Praying and sending well wishes for continued health, and speedy recoveries for those that fall ill to this virus.

Take good care everyone.   We are all in this together.
